Over the past few years, the international mathematical community has stepped up its efforts to ensure that women are fully represented and engaged. Achieving this goal is a long-term commitment that demands sustained energy and initiatives carefully adapted to the local context.
Our program puts strong emphasis on supporting young female students participating in the project. Tony Ezome, one of our coordinators, is member of Committee for Women in Mathematics (CWM) from the International Mathematical Union (IMU) for the periods (2019-2022) and (2023-2026).
Through our actions (since PREMA), we have been able to support :
- the establishment of the The Cameroon Women in Mathematics Association (CAWOMA) in 2016.
- the establishment and development of the Association des Femmes Mathématiciennes du Gabon in 2022.
- the establishment in July 2025 of the Association des Femmes en Mathématiques du Congo (AFEMCO) in 2025. See Newsletter 1.
These associations are branches of the African Women in Mathematics association.
During our activities on-site, we also support and contribute to outreach activities about the gender gap in science. For instance here is the program of the special day Women & Sciences at ENS Libreville, Gabon, on March 21, 2026.
